Foton, formally Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., was founded in Beijing in 1996 and forms part of the BAIC Group. Its background centres on commercial vehicles serving a variety of passenger and freight transport roles.
The brand’s June 2024 introduction described a portfolio extending from heavier commercial vehicles to light trucks, bakkies and minibuses. It also highlighted development of electric vehicles alongside conventional powertrains.
