How mild-hybrid technology works in the Tunland V-Series

The Foton Tunland V7 and V9 use a 2.0-litre AUCAN turbo-diesel engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
The electrical system recovers energy and assists the engine during driving. It does not require the driver to connect the vehicle to a charging point. Mild-hybrid assistance should also not be confused with the electric-only driving capability of a fully electric vehicle.
Two approaches to the double cab
The V7 uses leaf springs at the rear, reflecting its emphasis on load carrying and working use. The V9 has multi-link rear suspension, with a greater focus on ride comfort.
For buyers in Cape Town, comparing both vehicles on the same kinds of roads used every day is a useful way to assess which approach fits. Fuel use will still depend on the load, route and driving conditions.
